Dear friends of Sidecar for Pigs Peace,
I've been in the role of manager for almost two months now, and I really love it! I've appreciated the warm welcome I've received, and look forward to getting to know our customers. I am so happy to be able to live and work my ethics and help you do the same. And I'm having so much fun!
Hey, guess what I learned in this first month! Besides how much hard work and love Peggy put into running this store, I mean. I have learned that our prices are really competitive! And I'm working to lower them even more, whenever possible. Our prices are almost always below the manufacturer's suggested retail, and often below the nearby natural food stores. Because we're a non-profit and run mostly on volunteer power, we can sell foods at a "tighter" margin than if we were a for-profit store. There's not much room for extras like dramatic sales and eye-popping displays, just confidence that our everyday prices are not lining the pockets of corporate big-wigs.
Please remember, I'm here to help you help the animals. If you come across a product you'd like to buy through Sidecar, let me know. A bonus of my job is to find new and delicious items to carry, and I love the feeling of a great discovery. Which offers a great segue into…

MimicCreme - It's true, there are vegans who have to avoid soy. And if you are among then, I feel for ya'. So much so that I brought it this terrific cream that's soy-free. Make soup, gravy, or whipped topping - or simply add to your coffee. And if you're not soy-free, we now have Soyatoo in a box, which you can use just like "heavy cream" in a recipe, including making fresh whipped topping. |

The field of vegan cheese is getting rather crowded and competitive! Newest entries: SoyFeta and SoyBleu from Sunergia Foods, and spreadable Creamy Sheese. If you've been missing the mellow goodness of feta, try one of two flavors of SoyFeta. The tang of bleu cheese is captured in Sunergia's SoyBleu. The Original flavor Creamy Sheese is like cream cheese, the Mexican flavor is great warmed into a nacho dip, and Garlic and Herb Creamy Sheese is terrific on a toasted bagel. We're also gearing up for the holidays, building up our stock of baking supplies for your holiday baking, as well as our offerings of holiday gifts, to help you shop well for your loved ones and friends. (And you know what the holidays mean, don't you? That's right! Seasonal soymilk flavors! Silk Nog, Silk Pumpkin Spice, and Vitasoy Chocolate Peppermint, oh my....)
