March 4, 2009 Looking Out For You, Our Friends By now you probably know about the nation-wide peanut butter recall, with items still being added daily. Rest assured that I'm doing all I can to carry only the safest products. I contacted every company whose peanut-containing products I sell, and received a Statement of Safety from them. If you want to find out if a product is safe, just ask, and we'll show you the Statement. At Sidecar for Pigs Peace we've had only 3 recalled items to date:
If you bought any of those items from Sidecar, return them for a refund or credit. (No illnesses from these particular products have been reported, but the companies are playing it safe.) If any further products of ours are recalled, I will send you an email. There are more new and returning-favorite items, and more new items in the works, so come on in! You Make A Difference We know that sometimes you have to shop at other stores. And some local stores make a fair effort at carrying vegan food, and their customer service is very good. Members of their staff may even know you by name. But what do you think would happen if you stopped shopping there? Would they notice? Would they close down? In other words, do you, as one individual customer, make a significant difference to them and their business? While you mull that over, let me put this out there: when our customers change their shopping habits or, perish the thought, stop shopping at Sidecar for Pigs Peace, I notice. It matters. I can tell when someone has moved away because certain products slow down. If you move to another part of town and shop here less often, I notice that the items you buy are not selling as quickly. When the vegan store in Boulder, CO closed last year, I realized just how dependent Sidecar is on each and every customer, right down to *you.* Can you say that about other stores? Maybe the question is not, "Do you make a difference?" but rather, "Where do you make a difference?" You make a difference at Sidecar, a great deal, and we love you.
