Red Velvet Pops
One word: WOW. A talented baker with an eye for CUTE has come up with some sweet little wonders. Check this out: red velvet cake, blended with cream cheese frosting, dipped in white chocolate, and stuck on a stick. Seriously. She's also brought us some other clever treats, and she's working up something special just for us, so be sure to come back often.

Back in Stock
I created a bit of space to bring Caveman Bars back to our shelves! And since Vitasoy is leaving the US, I've asked around and found that customers were looking for Eden products, so their shelf-stable milks are making their way into Sidecar as space becomes available.

Belated Thanks!
We owe a heartfelt THANK YOU to Andy Werth for playing a benefit concert for Pigs Peace Sanctuary. We enjoyed an awesome show - energetic and engaging - and he and his extended band raised about $350 for the piggies, with almost no effort on our part. THANKS, Andy!
More thanks go to the fabulous bakers - and fabulous shoppers - that made our weekend-long Bake Sale Fundraiser for Pigs Peace a success! This event was so popular we will probably have to hold bake sales quarterly. Would you mind? We made over $650 for the Sanctuary, which sets a pretty high bar, but judging from the drooling customers, I think we'll top that next time, easily.

Helping Sidecar Thrive
Write us in for the Veggie Awards
According to the VegNews editors, the nominees for the annual Veggie Awards come from the number of votes received the previous year. (Which does not explain how new products get on the list, but anyway.) This year, Sidecar fell off the list of nominees for Best Vegan Storefront (gasp!), possibly because of the confusion about what "storefront" means. Storefront = brick and mortar store, as opposed to an online store. There is, however, a place to write us in within that category. Please write us in as your favorite storefront, so that next year we're included in the list of nominees. Sidecar needs the recognition that the annual survey brings.

While you're voting, be sure to vote for Pigs Peace Sanctuary as best animal sanctuary. Judy works hard, is fiscally responsible, and is practically a one-woman operation caring for over 200 animals; she and the pigs deserve every vote.
Vote for the Bag Fee!
Seems like a strange way to help Sidecar, doesn't it? But here's where I'm going with this: the bag fee, if passed next month, will result in a 20-cent fee for paper and plastic bags. Large stores will give part of that fee back to the city, but small stores like Sidecar for Pigs Peace will get to keep the 20 cents. Most of our shoppers don't need a bag, or bring their own reusable bag (or they buy our recycled cotton or nylon bags!), but for the ones that choose to pay the bag fee, Sidecar will give all bag fees directly to Pigs Peace Sanctuary. In other words, it'll be a fundraiser for the pigs. Now that's a fee we can get excited about!
As always, let us know how Sidecar can help you help the animals.
With love, Doh Store Manager
